In the splendid scenario of Villa Rizzo Correr in Rubano (Padova), last 13th May NET Engineering International hosted a lectio magistralis by Professor Ennio Cascetta regarding: "PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT, a new way of choosing and designing shared transport infrastructures".
A lectio in which Professor Cascetta combined his rigor as a scholar and a decade of experience as Regional Manager for Transport Department of Campania Region. The result has been an analysis of alternative possible approaches to planning and design of transport infrastructures and a particular attention to those aspects which should lead to choices and projects that have a greater chance of success, being well explained and shared by most public and private actors.
Professor Cascetta focused on the different structures of decision-making process, the role of methods for predicting the different effects of a project and the public engagement techniques, by now codified in various countries. The professor concluded his speech by presenting some structural proposals for improving decision-making, planning and implementation processes of transport infrastructures in Italy. An exposition that started a long and profitable debate, during which different viewpoints were compared and various priorities were mentioned.
The initiative, promoted by "Libera Fondazione" in collaboration with Confindustria Veneto, Confindustria Padova and NET Engineering, represented an important moment of comparison among influential experts, such as business, finance and university representatives.
