Description

For the Padua Ring Road, partially built on the south and east sides of the metropolitan area of Padua, solutions are needed to complete the west and north sides.
The project has deeply analyzed all the environmental factors ensuring compatibility of the intervention with the historic, architectonic and archaeological constraints, and compatibility with the landscape and the water system. Where needed, countermeasure to reduce the impacts have been identified and integrated in the project itself.
The most suitable solution was chosen according to multi-criteria comparison based on the results of traffic, territorial and environmental studies, as well as on the needs expressed by the Local Administrations and Bodies. The transport study included the estimation of forecast traffic flows for the whole duration of the Concession. These have then been used to estimate the revenues from tariffs on which the Economic Financial Plan, drawn up by the OPI Bank, was based.
The project foresees the construction of a new motorway stretch from the Padua South road to the new Ronchi di Villafranca toll gate on the A4 (west of Padova); a new stretch of suburban main road between the SR47 and the SR308 main road, plus works to make safe the existing stretches of the SR308 and the Padua South-East bypass. There will be three important bridges along the stretch, crossing therivers Brenta, Bacchiglione and Muson dei Sassi, and one viaduct crossing the Milan-Venice railway line and the A4 motorway.
The project concerns a total of 42 km of road, 22.7 of which will be completely new, while the remaining 19.3 km regard the upgrading of existing roads.

Further to the signing of the General Framework Agreement of 24/10/2003, between the Ministry of Infrastructures and the Veneto Region, the project was included in the works linked to the Mestre by-pass and consequently included among the strategic infrastructures of pre-eminent national interest, referred to by the aforesaid law and the relative implementation decree n. 190/2002, and it is included in the 2004-2007 economic-financial programming document of the Ministry of Economics and Finance.
